PREFACE
In this sense, the human animal becomes a victim of its own conceptual machinery (consensus trance). The “meat grinder logic” is not biological — it is cognitive and cultural. It takes the fluid, contradictory, shimmering complexity of lived experience and forces it through a system that only recognizes two positions: inside or outside, valid or invalid, real or unreal.
This is why Western philosophy repeatedly generates the same structures, even when thinkers try to escape them:
• Marx inherits the binary of class (bourgeoisie / proletariat).
• Wittgenstein inherits the binary of rule following (correct / incorrect).
• Derrida exposes binaries but still works inside them (presence / absence).
• Foucault shows how institutions enforce binaries (normal / abnormal).
Even when philosophers rebel, they do so within the architecture they inherited.
The result is a civilization that often cannot perceive the world except through oppositions, even when the world itself is relational, continuous, and ambiguous.
